My Newborn Must Haves

BY
Sarah Biegel

There are SO many baby products on the market thrown at us Moms on a daily basis. It can be overwhelming and confusing. Here are my favorite newborn products that have helped me.

Hatch Rest + Baby Sound Machine

This sound machine is worth every penny. The Rest+ version is backup battery operated so it can function despite power outages. (I've had my fair share of tropical storm power outages and random New Orleans outages to know). I now use it for my daughter as a time to wake clock so she knows when she's allowed out of bed in the morning.

Portable Sound Machine

For on-the-go trips, I love this sound machine. I hook it up to the car seat for easy naps while out and about.

SnuggleMe Organic Baby Lounger

A little bit of a splurge, but I really love this lounger. Both of my daughters have loved it because it hugs them as if they were back in the womb. I'd definitely recommend getting at least two covers though because babies spit up and poop. A lot. At very inconvenient times.

Baby 5-in-1 Cover

This cover is everything. Not only is it so soft and can be used as a blanket, but you can use it while breastfeeding, pumping or as a cover for the car seat or bassinet while baby is napping. Comes in tons of colors and designs!

The Ollie Swaddle

The holy grail of swaddles in my opinion. I've tried almost all of them you could think of, but consistently go back to the Ollie. It allows you to get a good, tight swaddle on your baby while still providing comfort. This is the ONLY swaddle both of my daughters are unable to wiggle their arms out of. Less wiggling = better sleep = happier mama.

Wellements Organic Gripe Water

This one is new to me for this second baby. I've used gripe water in the past, but I feel like this one worst MUCH better. I give it to my daughter before a feeding if she's been gassy or I give it to her when I notice she needs it. Gripe water is used to relieve stomach discomfort from gas, fussiness and hiccups.

Doona Car Seat/Stroller

Ok, so this is the least "must have" of the group here, but wow, is it nice. I lugged around a car seat with a baby for a year with my first daughter to be able to appreciate the ease of the Doona. This is the perfect car seat/stroller for quick grocery runs, picking up kids from school and travel. If you're on the fence about it, I'd say it's worth it!
